Utility-Scale Solar Energy Project Development in Italy and Greece

A utility-scale transatlantic clean energy independent power producer (IPP) aimed to develop a portfolio of utility-scale solar energy projects across Southern Europe, with a specific focus on Italy and Greece. The key challenges involved aligning strategic project development with evolving regulatory frameworks, engaging with multiple local stakeholders, and securing all necessary authorizations in a highly competitive and time-sensitive environment.

Action Plan

Our Deltasigma was engaged to lead the end-to-end development process, from site origination through to ready-to-build (RTB) status. We deployed a comprehensive strategy combining market intelligence, regulatory expertise, and local stakeholder management. Our work included in-depth feasibility analysis, coordination of technical and environmental assessments, and active management of permitting pathways. Leveraging our cross-border operational experience, we ensured seamless alignment between local project dynamics and the overarching investment strategy of the client.

Within the established timeframe, we successfully delivered a portfolio of solar assets with full permitting in place and ready for construction. This strategic milestone allowed our client to proceed with EPC contracting and financing activities without delays, significantly derisking the investment. The RTB status achieved across all projects not only unlocked immediate asset value but also positioned the client for long-term operational success in two key European energy markets.
